About The Lake

Yelachenahalli Lake is located on the South part of the Bangalore city. It has diverse Flora and Fauna. Trees like Rain Tree (Samanea saman), Copper Pond Tree (Peltophorum pterocarpum), Cycas revolute, Jaali Mara (Prosopis juliflora) etc can be seen on the southern side of the tank. Shrubs like Datura matel, Zizphus Jujuba, Solanum xanthocarpum, Solanum Indicum, Cassia Auriculata, LantanaCamara, Parthenium hysterophorous, occasionally Parkinsonia aculeate can be found. The herb layer includes more hard species like Sidaacuta Sida Rhombiofolia, Abutilon indicum, Croton bonplandianum, Cassia Tora, and some climbers like Cardiospermum helicaccabum, Ipomoea muricata, Ipooea hederefolia, Grasses like Eragrostis unioloides, Eragrotis bifaria, cynodon dactylon, Aristida sectacea, grows profusely. Marshy/Aquatic plants like Polygonum Chinese, Typha angustifolia, Cyperus haspan, Ipomoea carnea grows well.
